Bathinda, November 16 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU) Bathinda’s 7th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival-2022 titled as “Lehraunda Punjab” aimed to promote talent and culture concluded amidst much fanfare at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura. MRS-PTU, Bathinda main campus secured first position and bagged the overall trophy. While Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology, Deon, Bathinda and SD College of Pharmacy, Barnala jointly stood 1st Runner Up. Whereas Guru Gobind Singh College of Management & Technology, Giddarbaha stood 2nd runner up. The Youth festival dedicated to the birth Anniversary of “Sher-E-Punjab” Maharaja Ranjit Singh with the theme “Lehraunda Punjab ” which underlines the all-round Progress and Prosperity of Punjab and, it consisted of various cultural and technical events, creative competitions and talent oriented cultural performances. More than 500 students of participating Constituent and affiliated colleges to the university celebrated the spirit of life by performing in various events of music, theatre, dance, literature, fine arts, besides various cultural, technical and literary events in various dimensions of performing arts; skits, song, dances, music Performance, Giddha and Bhangra were the main attractions of the event. The closing & prize distribution ceremony was graced by Cabinet Minister, Social Security, Woman & Child Development, Govt. of Punjab, Dr. Baljit Kaur, while the inauguration ceremony was done by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges presided over the events. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said the youth festival is a unique platform for young talent and a celebration of youthful creativity and innovation. He said that the youngsters were blessed with several qualities and one of them was that such programmes helped them develop a team spirit, exhibit talent and skills during the competitions, which could help them to excel in their lives. He said these youth festivals not only revive our rich cultural heritage but give us a spirit of teamwork and good health. Dr. Baljit Kaur while congratulating all winning & participating colleges during prize distribution ceremony said that youth festivals aim to propagate the concept of national integration, spirit of communal harmony, brotherhood, courage and adventure amongst the youth by exhibiting their cultural prowess at a common platform. Event Description: Annual Techno-Literary-Cultural Festival ‘Tarannum-2022-Colours of India’ concluded with high spirit at MRS-PTU, Bathinda…. Bathinda, October 21 The annual mega Technical–Literary-Cultural Festival ‘TARANNUM-2022’concluded on colourful note at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda Campus. The theme of the event was “Colours of India”. The fest comprised of various technical events, creative competitions and talent oriented cultural performances of various states. Students celebrated the spirit of life by performing in various cultural, technical and literary events in various dimensions by performing arts. Skits, Song, Dances, Rap, Band Performance and Bhangra were main attractions of the event. Famous Punjabi Sufi singer Raza Heer and G Khan regaled the audience their popular songs and kept the audience spellbound. Central University of Vice Chancellor, Dr. R.P. Tiwari was chief guest on the occasion, while MRS-PTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu presided over the prize distribution ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Tiwari explained the importance of such techno-cultural -literary as these events are necessary for shaping the young minds and their personality. Event Description: World Food Day celebrated at MRSPTU- Stalls of delicacies of different states remain attraction Bathinda, October 19 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU) Bathinda’s Food Science and Technology department organized an impressive Food Festival to mark the World Food Day. The attractive food stalls of different states, including North East and South’s regional delicacies attracted large number of students and people. MRS-PTU, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu and Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Gurinderpal Singh Brar inaugurated the Food Festival. The theme of World Food Day this year is “Leave No One Behind” which focuses on building a sustainable world for everyone with regular access to enough nutritious food and aimed to promote the message that food is the basic and fundamental human right of everyone. The students of Food Science and Technology department arranged more than 20 food stalls where the students themselves prepared various food items ranging from regional delicacies of various states to innovative food items with a purpose of making a clarion call of better proction, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life. While addressing the students, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu mentioned that World Food Day is not only about celebrating amazing food that the people have the privilege of indulging in, but is about raising awareness for people from all over the world who suffer from hunger. He explained that the main principle of this day is the furtherance of food security all over the globe. He discussed that the problem is access and availability of nutritious food, which is increasingly impeded by multiple challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts, climate change, inequality, rising prices and international tensions. He advised the students to share their food to avoid wastage and encouraged the students for their better future. Dr. Kawaljit Singh Sandhu, Head of Department Food Science and Technology, presented a detailed key note about World Food Day emphasizing on the Global Hunger Index (GHI), and the need for healthy diet. He pointed out that although the world has made progress towards building a better world, too many people have been left behind who are unable to benefit from human development, innovation or economic growth such that millions of people around the world cannot afford a healthy diet, putting them at high risk of food insecurity and malnutrition. The event coordinators, Miss Shaweta Chaturvedi, Ms. Gurjinder Kaur Sidhu, Ms. Riya, Er. Rajinder Singh Smagh, Faculty and Staff of Food Science played key role in organizing the grand event. The Vice-Chancellor also felicitated the students who arranged various attractive food stalls. Event Description: Expert Lecture on Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Bathinda, October 3 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU) organised expert lecture to commemorate the birth Anniversary of India's charismatic revolutionary Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh. Dr. Amandeep Singh Sekhon, Punjabi University Guru Khasi Campus, Talwandi Sabo, delivered a keynote address on the occasion to enlighten the life of legend Sardar Bhagat Singh. In his address, Dr. Sekhon said Bhagat Singh was a freedom fighter who sacrificed his life in the battle for independence of India from British rule. He inspired Indians with his grit and courage. He dedicated his life to the independence of India from the clutches of Britishers at a very young age. Today, the young generation draws inspiration from him and his devotion towards the nation. Dr. Paramjit Singh, Dean Student’s welfare welcomed all the dignitaries. While remembering freedom fighter Bhagat Sing, Dr. Singh said that his courage, ideals and patriotism will never be forgotten. Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Registrar, MRS-PTU, Bathinda said that the Freedom Fighter Bhagat Singh remains among the most popular icons in the minds of the youth. Event Description: MRS-PTU NSS wing organized a Blood Donation camp-107 units of blood collected Bathinda, September 21 National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda organized a Blood Donation camp in the University on Wednesday. As many as 107 units of blood were collected for the noble cause. The camp was coordinated by Dr. Meenu, NSS Coordinator and Dr. Veena Sharma, NSS Co-Coordinator. The camp begins with the full enthusiasm of the blood donors. A total of 107 donors contributed to the noble work by donating blood. Later the organizing team distributed refreshment for instant energy boost amongst the blood donors as an immediate relief. The Medical Officer of MRS-PTU, Dr H.M. Garg along with his team and Ambulance supervised the camp and remained on the spot to handle any emergency. Dr. Garg said that donating blood regularly is rather good for health. Further he added that during the preliminary examination hidden diseases may be revealed, and we may get acquainted with our basic health issues. Donating blood may help in improving cardiovascular health and reducing obesity.

Event Description: MRS-PTU celebrates 76th Independence Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour Bathinda, August 16 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda celebrated 76th Independence Day with enthusiasm and Patriotic fervour at Athletic Ground on Monday. Saluting the Nation and its freedom fighters, Chief Guest on the occasion, MRS-PTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu unfurled the National Flag. He appealed to the gathering to adopt the attitude of humanity, brotherhood, national integrity, progress, prosperity, peace, and justice forgetting the differences of color, creed and caste. To mark the nationwide celebration of 'Har Ghar Tiranga' Abhiyaan, MRS-PTU's faculty and staff also joined the campaign enthusiastically. The university also observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day and organised Prabhat Pheris as part of Independence Day celebrations. "India is a progressive nation of this world and has achieved advancements in technology, military, arts, agriculture and architecture etc., but the process of Nation Building is still on," said Prof Sidhu while strongly appealing to the youth to arise to the challenges of the day and dedicate themselves to the building of a strong Nation. Being a technical university," We have a big responsibility on our shoulders to contribute to the progress of the nation. Event Description: AIIMS & MRSPTU signs MoU to promote new academic partnership- MBA - Hospital Administration admission open for Academic Session 2022-23 Bathinda, July 14 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda to promote new academic partnership and started MBA - Hospital Administration from the current Academic Session (2022-23) to meet the challenges in the healthcare and Management of hospitals. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by MRSPTU, Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar and AIIMS Dean, Dr. Satish Gupta in the presence of AIIMS, Executive Director, Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh and MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu at the VC Conference room on Thursday. The MoU aimed to initiate joint need based academic, scientific and research programmes collaboration between both the prestigious institutes in the broad area of Medical Sciences, Hospital Administration, Analytics, Engineering and Technology. A first-of-its-kind initiative was conceptualized after marathon meetings of experts of both the institutes. MBA- Hospital Administration is being started in view of the increasing trend of Super Specialty hospitals globally, which has stimulated the increase in demand for experts in Hospital Administration. In his address, Shri Bhandari said that It was a matter of great pride that the MRS-PTU, one of the fastest growing universities of Punjab also launched new need based skill courses in Health Science Technology ( in association with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda and numerous other emerging technologies with the collaboration of prestigious institutes . He added that the start of a new course in emerging technologies and bridging the gap between education and industry is need of hour. He said online and need based skill education was the future of education. Education is the only weapon in our hands that can change the World for the better. Moreover, value-based education is the need of the hour to take India to newer heights. "Development of any country or state depends upon how educated its citizens are. Education plays a great role in developing countries in every field, therefore, in Punjab, we have to make sure that youth of the state are well-educated , skilled and cultured so that they can help in taking the country and state on the path of development," he said. Technical Education plays a vital role in Human Resource Development and need based courses cutting edge emerging technologies to be a leading nation . He said stopping Brain drain is priority of Punjab Government. He admitted that many meritorious Indian students pursue their higher studies from foreign universities. Our higher learning institutions are capable of producing World-class scholars but lose them to foreign universities due to brain drain. He expressed happiness that MRS-PTU is one of the leading universities, which is always ready to open new frontiers of education. He said that the admission platform has been launched so as to facilitate students to get admission without any hurdles and transparent manner . He also lauded the Dean's, faculty and employees of the MRS-PTU, who have given their valuable contributions in developing this platform and making it a huge success. He said MRS-PTU is one of the front ranking educational institutions of Punjab. He hoped that new online courses in Data Science, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Patents & IPR, Programming Languages, Business Intelligence, Cyber Crimes etc. will definitely Enhance Learning and all set to Enriching Dreams of the aspirant students. The Program was inaugurated by Bathinda (Urban), MLA, Sardar Jagroop Singh Gill.
While speaking on the occasion, Sardar Jagroop Singh Gill stressed upon the importance of Professional Development Program for Non-Teaching staff. He pointed out that PDP will facilitate the identification of the training needs of different categories of non-teaching employees and suggest specific areas for training and duration of the training program preferred by the employees.
Resource Persons from various prestigious institutions like All India Institute of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS) Bathinda, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda are delivering lectures on important topics in this PDP. Event Description: MRSPTU 28th Annual Athletic Meet concluded on colourful note –Nitin Sharma (Men) and Miss Fulbita Thaosen (Women) declared Best Athletes Bathinda, March 26 The 28th annual athletics meet of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) main campus and Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), MRSPTU concluded on colourful note at Athletics Ground here on Saturday. Hundreds of athletes took part in the event. Mr. Nitin Sharma (B. Pharm 2019 Batch) and Miss Fulbita Thaosen (Textile 2020 Batch) declared Best Athletes in men and women category respectively. Similarly, Mr. Mohit of B.Com (Men Category) and Ms. Mehak Jatana CSE (Women Category) were declared Sports Captain during the athletic meet. The chief guest Sardar Jagroop Singh Gill, MLA, Bathinda (Urban) inaugurated the event by unfurling the flag, while KPS Brar (IRS), Deputy Commissioner Income Tax give away the prices to the winners. Bathinda, February 11 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda is celebrating 7th Foundation Day with enthusiasm. On the second day of celebrations, experts threw light on Life and Philosophy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, while top researchers/scientists of the university were facilitated on the occasion. MRSPTU bestowed honours upon its 16 top researchers & faculty members on the basis of quality publications, H-Index, citations, bibliometric and other parameters. Two scientists of MRSPTU, Dr. Kawaljit Singh Sandhu (Department of Food Science and Technology) and Dr. Ashish Baldi (Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology) were honoured with ‘Best Researcher Award” for their numerous contributions in the field of research and innovation. Both researchers have been listed in the World ranking of top 2 per cent Best Scientists in an independent study conducted by Stanford University (USA) for the year 2019 and 2020 consecutively. While congratulating on the Foundation day of the University, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said the foundation day is the day to remember and pay tribute to the legendary king Maharaja Ranjit Singh on whose name the university is named. He said the philosophy and teachings of Sikh Guru Sahiban and Maharaja Ranjit Singh are most relevant and important for mankind. To mark the day an expert talk, quiz and poster making competition were organized. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu highlighted the contribution of great Indian Mathematicians in the field of Mathematics. He motivated the students to explore practical approach for solving Mathematical problems. In his expert talk, Prof. (Dr.) Gauree Shankar, Head department of Mathematics and Statistics, Central University of Punjab enlightened the audience with an overview of history of Indian Mathematicians and their contribution over the years. The students Harshit Saini (M.Sc Mathematics) and Yogesh (B.Sc (Hons.) Mathematics) secured first position in quiz competition, while Neelam Kaur and Neelam Garg (B.Sc (Hons.) Event Description: Week- long Training programme for NSS officers concluded at MRSPTU Bathinda, December 23 A week-long Training Programme for officers of National Service Scheme (NSS) concluded at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda on Thursday. The program was organized by the University’s NSS wing under the aegis of Empanelled Training Institute (ETI) in collaboration with the Institute for Development and Communication (IDC) Chandigarh. The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. During the week-long programme, hands-on training was provided on the mandate, objectives and activities of the NSS. While eminent academicians, government officials of Center and state interacted with the participants on social issues including road safety, sustainable environment, and schemes of NSS during the programme, which was organized in Bathinda after a gap of 10 years. Key speakers during this program were Prof. (Dr.) Satya Vir Malik, Dr. Rabindra Paul, Dr. Meenu and Shri Kulwinder Singh. Prof. (Dr.) Satya Vir Malik highlighted the importance of inculcating value-based education in youth to make them realize the importance of social service from a very young age. Dr. Rabindra Paul urged the teachers to inculcate in their students the spirit of social responsibility and utilize their services in spreading awareness at grassroots on different social and environmental problems. Dr. Meenu, coordinator NSS coordinated the program threw a light on Empowerment of women, gender equality, challenges before women, violence against women and other issues related with women. Bathinda Assistant Director Youth Services, Mr. Kulwinder Singh discussed NSS programme, reward and awards in NSS and how to inculcate the concept of personality development among students. Mr. Naresh Pathania, Master Trainer Red Cross Bathinda demonstrated the First AID and participants took keen interest in the training. MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu was the Chief Guest at the valedictory session of the programme. Prof. Sidhu illustrated the role of such programs in overall development of Programme officers and their role towards society and how to inculcate the concept of positive attitude among students. He said teachers have a great role to mold young minds into responsible and conscious citizens. He added that teachers can play a pivotal role in preventing youth from digressions, deviances and negative traits by giving personal attention to their conduct and behavior. Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology and MRSPTU main Campus secured first position and bagged the overall trophy, whereas BabaFarid College of Engineering and Technology, Deon bagged the first runner-up trophy. Whereas Young Scholars College, Handiaya (Barnala) secured third position. Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Vice Chancellor, Dr. Raj Bahadur was chief guest on the veladictory cermony, while Technical Education and Industrial Training , Additional Director, Dr. Mohanbir Singh Sidhu and All India Radio, Bathinda Station Director, Mr. Rajiv Arora, were guests of honour at the closing ceremony, who presided over the prize distribution function. The youth festival with the theme “Maan Watna Da” which underlines the importance of pride and love for the motherland, it consisted of various cultural and technical events, creative competitions and talent oriented cultural performances. Punjabi folk singer Dr. Kuldip Kaur Sandhu regaled the audience with her popular songs "Chidian Da Chamba" , Mazboori and Mitti Da Bawa. She has performed as play back singer in popular Punjabi movies. Assistant Professor Gursewak Singh Lambi (Punjabi University, Patiala) and Prof. Zameerpal Kaur (Central University of Punjab) were observers for the Youth festival. Gursewak Lambi, who is a poet entertained the audience with his poem "Chuni Rang de Lalariiya" and Er. Sukhdeep Singh mesmerised the audience with "Damadama Mast Kalandhar". The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bathinda celebrated National Legal Services Day by organizing a mass awareness seminar on the theme “Women Empowerment through Legal Aid” at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda Auditorium on Tuesday. Shri Kamaljit Singh Lamba, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, presided over the function. While addressing the students, Shri Lamba said, “To fulfill the promise of our forefathers of securing justice to all the citizens of India, we need to offer quality legal services to poor women, children, disabled persons, weaker sections of society and down trodden ,”. Earlier, in an impressive function, Shri Lamba also released a film named "Insaaf" based on the philosophy of justice and role of free legal aid at District Bar Association Complex in collaboration with Bar members. The film was sponsored by Aerotown Mohali. Speaking on the occasion, MRSPTU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said that the role and scope of Legal Services Authority has now expanded. It is playing an important role in providing information about various victim compensation schemes to the general public. Sh. Baljinder Singh Sra, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Bathinda gave information about the various legal rights of women under Constitution of India. He discussed laws regarding domestic violence, maintenance, succession, eve-teasing, stalking, dowry death etc and he also highlighted that “Law has remedy for every crime and atrocity. But awareness of legal rights needs utmost importance to get justice. Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan C.J.M.-cum-secretary, DLSA gave detailed information about the functioning of the DLSA in respect of free legal aid facility, Victim Compensation Schemes and Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods. An interactive session with students was also organized where judicial officers precisely addressed the queries of students especially girls on women empowerment. MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu inaugurated the festival in the morning, while Principal Secretary Technical Education, Punjab, Shri Ramesh Kumar Ganta IAS was chief guest at the closing ceremony. Addressing the students, Shri Ganta said Co-curricular and sporting activities enhance the overall personality development of students and bring a positive impact on academic performance of students. While highlighting the contribution of such techno-cultural events towards the shaping of young minds and their personality, spirit of team work as well as competition among the students, he said co-curricular activities compliment academic level of students. Motivating the students to participate in co-curricular activities for their overall development, he said “Team work is very important to excel as professional in the field. Your talents shouldn’t be only for the livelihood, but it also has something to contribute into the society. It is this stage in your student life which will end the fear to face any stage in you professional and personal life,” he added. He also focused on the relationship between Faculty and students, innovative ways for teaching, elf learning and importance of participation. ‘All of you, who have participated in the competition are winners here. None of you are losers. One who participated in any sense can’t be losers,” he added. Remembering his own college days, Shri Ganta talked about the importance of memories made during such cultural festivals. More than 30 eminent resource persons from various prestigious institutions National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh, Central University Punjab, Bathinda, Punjabi University, Patiala and other Institutions are delivering lectures on important topics in this PDP. Hundreds of employees of MRSPTU will attend and benefit from the two week-long event. Renowned administrator and academician, Col. B. Vankat Director, Faculty development cell (FDC Cell), AICTE, New Delhi was chief guest during the inaugural ceremony. While speaking on the occasion, Col. Vankat stressed upon the importance of Professional Development Program for Non- Teaching staff. He pointed out that PDP will facilitate the identification of the training needs of different categories of non-teaching employees and suggest specific areas for training and duration of the training programme preferred by the employees. Event Description: World Architecture Day celebrated in MRSPTU, Bathinda- Aaryans and Roman houses win 1st and 2nd position respectively- Charlina J Dutta, Somdata Chatterjee, Biswajit Mondal and Vishal win prestigious competitions… Bathinda, October 06 Giani Zail Singh School of Architecture & Planning, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda celebrated World Architecture Day with much fanfare, which was open to all the students of the University. The events for the morning session were Grace the Trace, Worth the Word and Shape - A- Toon competition, which were open for all the departments. The winner of “Grace the Trace” was Charlina J. Dutta (2k19) & runner up was Shamsher Singh (2k19). For “Worth the Word” the winner was Somdata Chatterjee (2k19) and first runner up was Bikas (2k19). For “Shape - A- Toon” the winners were Biswajit Mondal (2k19) & Vishal (2k19) , first runner up were Varun Singla (2k20) & Amarjeet (2k20) , second runner up Kashyap Saumyam (2k19) & Lohit Yadav(2k19). In the evening session, “Inter-House Quiz” competitions were organized. The houses were: Romans, Aaryans, Greeks and Egyptians. There were total five rounds. In the interesting competitions, the Aaryans got 1st position while Romans secured 2nd position. The event was organised under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinderpal Singh Dhot by Ar. Gurmeet Kaur. This event was hosted by the AART body of GZS School of Architecture & Planning, MRSTU Bathinda, consisting of President- Piyush Maurya; Vice President- Simerpreet Kaur; Treasurer- Sahil Singla; Secretary- Shruti Kakkar; House Captains- Damanpreet Jakhar, Lovely Chilana, Harshita Kaur, Surya Ahuja under the guidance of faculty members. Additional hands include Geetika Gupta, Raman Chauhan, Manoj Das, Neelesh from 2018 batch. Chief Guest of the event was University, Registrar, Prof. Gurinderpal Singh Brar and Guest of honor was Campus Director & MRSPTU, Dean Academics, Dr. Savina Bansal, who congratulated and inspired the students for further participation in such events. The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes by the Chief Guest. Ending note for the event was delivered by Ar. Kanishka. Head of Department Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Ar. Kapil Arora , Ar. Kajal Handa Arshi, Ar. Gurmeet Kaur & Ar. Jasleen Kaur worked very hard for the success of the programme. Prof. Dhot commended and motivated all the participants and the organizing members for making the event successful and a memorable one. Event Description: MRSPTU celebrates 75th Independence day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour "Revolution is an inalienable right of mankind. Freedom is an imperishable birth right of all. Labour is the real sustainer of the society, the sovereignty of the ultimate destiny of the workers" Prof. Sidhu started his speech while quoting famous lines of Shahid- E-Azam Bhagat Singh. While addressing, Prof. Sidhu appealed to the gathering to adopt the attitude of humanity, brotherhood, national integrity, progress, prosperity, peace, and justice forgetting the differences of color, creed and caste. "India is a progressive nation of this world and has achieved advancements in technology, military, arts, agriculture and architecture etc., but the process of Nation Building is still on," he said while strongly appealing to the youth to arise to the challenges of the day and dedicate themselves to the building of strong Nation. Being a technical university," We have a big responsibility on our shoulders to contribute to the progress of the nation. Teachers, who are heavily paid from the Government exchequer should love their profession and be “Role Model” for the students. “A teacher is a beacon light that acts as a lighthouse to guide the stranded students in the sea of life,” he said. India has emerged towards becoming a global power to fulfil it. However, in this competitive world to march further, a nation requires the power of Science & Technology to be counted among the best. " Even if each of us decides to work with one problem of our society, we will see that we will be making great contributions towards the nation, the state and to the university," Prof. Sidhu said while appealing to the students for innovation and research. MRSPTU Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar also conveyed his greetings on Independence Day and gave his best wishes for a bright future for the students. Event Description: World Environment Day: Tree plantation drive and Environment Awareness Week to mark celebration at MRSPTU- Bathinda, June 4
To mark the World Environment Day (June 5), a massive tree plantation drive was organized in the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda on Friday. This drive was part of the Environmental Awareness Week which is being celebrated by the university. MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu, Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, GZSCCET, Campus director, Dr. Savina Bansal and senior officials of the university inaugurated the plantation drive and flagged off tractor-trailers carrying different varieties of trees for plantation in different villages and Bathinda city. Plantation was also carried out by different departments of the university in the campus premises on Friday. NSS in-charge, Dr. Meenu said that the various varieties of plants including Sheesham, Amaltas, Gulmohar, Toot, Dek, Neem, Kachnar, Guava and Jamun etc. will be planted during the week. Giving details, Dr. Meenu said that during the Awareness week, National Service Scheme (NSS), Programme officers, volunteers and environment friendly alumni of the Institute will take part in this initiative of environment concern. They will carry out plantation drives in Chak Bakhtu, Chak Fateh Singh Wala, Chak Ram Singh Wala, Kartarpur Thande, Lehra Mohabbat and Punjab Institute of Technology (PIT), Nandgarh . June 5 has been celebrated as World Environment Day every year since 1972 when the United Nations General Assembly established this day on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on Human Environment. Two years later in 1974, World Environment Day was celebrated for the first time with the theme: "Only One Earth" and since then it is celebrated all over the world with full enthusiasm. Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu expressed concern over the dire consequences of deforestation which is quite rampant in the current trends of urbanization, Industrialization and consumerism. He said the new generation should cultivate eco-friendly living as a culture. “The pure air and water are the rights of the coming generation. No development is possible by destroying nature. Not only June 5, should every day be environmental protection day,” said Prof. Sidhu while urging everyone to make their living style and practice nature friendly by growing more and more trees. He lauded the efforts of NSS units in arranging such events of environmental protection and spreading the awareness among the students. It is worthwhile to mention here that Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India selected MRSPTU with Swachhta Award under “One District One Green Champion” Award for clean green environment of the campus.

Event Description: International Women Day: Science Live held at MRSPTU to mark the day AIIMS Director recalls sacrifices and contribution of great scientists Women are agents of change in every domain: VC Bathinda, March 8 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda organized Science Live with the theme “Science is life, Make Successful Career in Science” to mark the International Women Day and National Science Day here on Monday. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda Director Dr. D.K. Singh inaugurated the programme. The programme (online and offline mode) was aimed to inspire the students in promoting scientific temper and sharing the significance of scientific applications in our daily life with practical examples. Live Aero modelling show by Shri Yadwinder Singh Khokhar of Siryewala was a great success and kept the students spellbound. While Arshdeep Sharma from IISER, Mohali displayed Drone and Bluetooth technology based projects like Quadcopter and Bluetooth car, which got appreciation from the students. Live Science show also included go kart/car rally-project, Project exhibition- live demonstration and basic science live experiments. Thousands of school students from various schools in all 22 districts of Punjab joined the programme on YouTube, which proved a boon for them. While Bathinda Meritorious School students under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rubi Gupta attended the programme at university. All COVID guidelines were strictly followed during the programme. Speaking on the occasion, while recalling the sacrifices and contribution of great scientists, Dr. D.K. Singh said there was an urgent need to implement new technologies for the development of science and provide opportunities to the scientific minds of our country for a sustainable future. He also quoted scientific insights in Guru Granth Sahib and teachings of Guru Sahiban. Dr. Singh remembered the dedication, determination and untiring efforts of great scientists like Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam, who are India’s pride. While remembering great women of the World, Dr. Singh also described the story of the incredible woman who laid the foundation of AIIMS – Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur (India’s first health minister hailing from the princely state of Kapurthala), who set up India’s premier public institution for healthcare. MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said women are agents of change in the social, economic, cultural and political processes of the country and play a crucial role even in challenging domains like the defence services, police and security forces. Prof. Sidhu also narrated the scientific perspective of Guru Sahiban’s teaching and women empowerment. Guru's message "So Kyon Manda Aakhiye-Jit Jammeh Rajan" which means woman has been a birth giver to many a Saint, great Kings and Emperors, how she may be inferior/ sinner" sends a strong message on women empowerment, he added. Dr. (Rtd.) S.B. Singh, Principal Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana delivered a motivational lecture and briefed about various fee waiver schemes for meritorious students in engineering and medical lines. Prof. (Rtd.) Swarandeep Singh Hundal, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana gave various tips for success in life and career. He pointed out that behind each success is a story of tremendous commitment and perseverance. All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Faculty Development Director, Col. B. Venkat, briefed about the various scholarships and AICTE schemes for the students and institutes. The programme coordinator, Dr. Manjeet Bansal, Er. Rajinder Singh, Er. Haramritpal Singh, Er. Yadwinder Sharma and Prof. Mukesh Grover played key roles in organising the event, while Dr. Sunita Kotwal managed the stage very well. It may be mentioned here that International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year around the world for the women’s rights and celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 to commemorate discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’, which led to Sir C.V. Raman winning the Nobel Prize.
