Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, the second technical University established by the Govt.
of Punjab. The mission of MRSPTU is to promote excellence in technical and scientific education and
research. Emergence of newer technologies is creating newer avenues and opportunities, which
necessitates acquiring of newer skills. The horizons of professional activities are expanding and
providing immense scope for younger generation to uncap their talent to touch greater heights of
achievements. The university offers a wide array of Technical, Scientific and Management courses through
its affiliated colleges and campuses. The university will be initiating newer teaching and research
programmes in emerging inter-disciplinary areas of science and technology. We endeavor to prepare our
students to serve Community, Nation and World by providing quality education and promoting all-round
development in a conducive atmosphere for a spirit of free inquiry. In the highly competitive world, we
want our students to be well educated and trained to become responsible citizens and prepared to face
competitions at national and international level.

Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kansal, currently serving as the 3rd Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) Bathinda, Punjab, is a distinguished academician, adept administrator, and passionate researcher. With over 28 years of experience, his contributions underscore a deep commitment to educational excellence and scientific advancement, reflecting his multifaceted role in advancing higher education.
He holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from IKGPTU Jalandhar and both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Hons. Sch.) from Panjab University, Chandigarh. His academic excellence is further demonstrated by his impressive achievements in qualifying the UGC NET-CSIR and GATE-95 examinations, as well as advancing to the interview stage of the Civil Services Exams. His academic journey is distinguished by a notable tenure as a dedicated teacher and significant contributions as the Founder Head of the Department of Physics, a Member of the Academic Council, a Member of the Faculty of Sciences, Chairman of the Board of Studies, and currently as the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at MRSPTU.
Beyond academics, he has held pivotal administrative positions in the university such as Prof. Incharge (Finance & Purchase), Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Director of Planning & Development, Nodal officer, PMS Scholarships etc. His administrative acumen is demonstrated through the introduction and successful implementation of various e-Governance modules like e-office, GeM, Online Self-Appraisal System, and a Mobile App for students. His efforts were instrumental in achieving the university's rankings in ARIIA and NAAC accreditation, enhancing its standing in national rankings. His expertise has been nationally recognized through his appointment as an ASSESOR by NAAC.
He is actively engaged in research, with an impressive profile that includes 32 publications in prestigious journals, presentations at both international and national conferences, and the authorship of one book. He has secured significant funding for research projects from Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, and has mentored numerous students for their Ph.D. degrees and postgraduate dissertation projects. His contributions to research and education have earned him notable accolades, including the MRSPTU Budding Researcher Award and the Leading Researcher Award. He is an active member of various professional organizations, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the scientific community.
His commitment to community outreach is evident through his role as a invited speaker at numerous conferences in universities and institutes, and in the organization of various curricular and extracurricular events. His active sportsmanship and adventurous spirit are exemplified by his successful trek to the Mount Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,364 meters, showcasing his resilience and determination.
Prof. Sandeep Kansal continues to inspire and lead in the realms of higher education and research, advancing the field of Physics, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence at MRSPTU and beyond.
